Chelmsford Public School Teachers Paid Less Than State Average in 2015

The Boston Business Journal released its annual list based on the average teacher salary in each community.

CHELMSFORD, MA — Public school teachers in Chelmsford were paid slightly less than the Massachusetts average in 2015.

Earlier this month, the Boston Business Journal released a full list of average annual salaries of public educators in 317 Massachusetts communities, based on data from the Department of Early and Secondary Education.

The Boston Business Journal found that public school teachers in Chelmsford were paid an average $73,471 in 2015, a shade under the statewide average of $74,737.

Being a teacher in Chelmsford is an increasingly lucrative career choice, according to the report. Just six years ago, the average salary for a teacher in Peabody was $64,915.

Average wages were determined by dividing each district's total salaries and stipends by the number of full-time teachers employed in 2015.
