Chelmsford School Committee Hears Concerns about Layoffs

Teachers, students and parents addressed committee about recent actions.

At Tuesday night’s School Committee meeting, concerned residents, teachers and parents expressed their concern about recent layoffs within the school department.

The Lowell Sun is reporting close to 100 were in attendance at Tuesday night’s meeting, including the town’s finance director who said the school’s business manager has not been honest about late invoices which contributed to the department’s deficit which had an impact on the decision to let employees go.

Also in attendance, according to the Sun, were supporters of the library services coordinator and Chelmsford High School librarian who was also terminated.
