Chelmsford Snow Removal, Winter Parking Details

Here's everything you need to know about parking through the winter and in snow emergencies in Chelmsford.

The Town of Chelmsford has sent out pamphlets on snow removal, winter parking, and other related chilly subjects.

Those pamphlets can be seen below. Some of the highlights:

- "No person shall pile, push, throw, shovel, or by any other method or means cause snow to be deposited or placed on any public roadway or sidewalk or fire hydrants or other similar device in the town so as to impede, obstruct or interrupt or otherwise adversely affect the unrestricted flow of traffic, or conceal any fire hydrant or other similar devise or the safe travel of any pedestrian on such roadway or sidewalk."

- Town-owned sanders are sent out with one inch of snow accumulation. The Town has nine sanding routes and prioritizes main arterial roads, collector roads, and hilly areas, but does respond to isolated problem areas.

- Plows are dispatched at three or more inches of accumulation. There are 30 plowing routes. It is residents' responsibility to clear out their driveways after plows pass by - but you may want to wait until they make their return route.

- The first sidewalk plowing priority is school walking routes, followed by Central and Vinal Square, and then sidewalks on remaining main roadways.

Remember to exhibit patience and kindness during and after winter storms. For more information, read the pamphlet below.
