The Chelmsford High School softball team took an early edge over host Stoneham, but the Lions couldn't hold onto their edge as the Spartans went on to snag a 3-2 victory on Wednesday afternoon. Holding a 2-0 lead until the fourth inning, Chelmsford allowed three runs in the frame to fall behind by a run. In the final inning, the Lions had a runner on second with one out, but she was caught at third base on a ground out. The next Chelmsford batter worked a walk, but the locals couldn't push home the tying run. Following the loss, the Lions' record dropped to 9-8 on the season.
