4 Hurt In Route 3-Closing Crash

Both sides of the highway were closed to allow a MedFlight chopper to land following a serious wreck.

TYNGSBORO, MA — A wreck on Route 3 South shut down the entire highway Sunday night, with four being sent to the hospital, police said.

The crash occurred around 8:05 p.m. just north of Exit 34. Police said a 2016 Jeep Grand Cherokee traveled off the right side of the road and struck a large sign post. It appears "operator fatigue" was a factor, police said.

The driver was airlifted to Beth Israel Hospital in Boston with serious injuries. The three passengers went to Lowell General Hospital with minor injuries.
