Dracut Good Samaritan Saves Stranded Hiker
New Hampshire Fish and Game officials said a Dracut man called for help after coming across an injured hiker unable to move.

MONT VERNON, NH — A Dracut Good Samaritan helped rescue a stranded hiker in New Hampshire Sunday, officials said. New Hampshire Fish and Game said the Dracut man was hiking in the Purgatory Falls Recreation Area in Mont Vernon and Lyndeborough when he stumbled across a 30-year-old man from Nashua stranded on the trail after injuring himself the night before. The Nashua man was unable to move and spent the night in the woods without proper gear, officials said.
"(The Nashua man) did not have a cell phone, hiking gear, or extra supplies," New Hampshire Fish and Game said in a statement. "He was fortunate to have been found." (Sign up for free daily newsletters and breaking news alerts from Massachusetts Patch sites.)
The Dracut man contacted first responders, who pulled the man from the woods and transported him to a local hospital for an evaluation.
