ESTABLISHING CHELMSFORD PUBLIC GARDEN

This article explains the plan to establish a garden on the land where the old fire station stood on North Road.

With joyful enthusiasm the Chelmsford Garden Club has undertaken their biggest project ever. They are implementing plans for the Chelmsford Public Garden beginning with funding from the Garden Club and local donors. The old Chelmsford fire station has moved on to a more appropriate area and a sad weed patch has invaded their former home. The Club wants to see trees, shrubs, perennials, ornamental grasses and bulbs that will bring serenity and beauty to mark that spot forever. The area will be accessible to people with disabling conditions. There will be a handicap walkway, a sitting area and a handicap picnic table.

Town citizens have donated funds for 5 benches and 2 tables as memorials to loved ones. Interested parties can donate funds to purchase trees or plants either to honor or in memory of someone. All donations will be acknowledged on a posted sign approximately 2’x 2’. A sprinkler system is being donated by Ken Kydd of the Green Lawn Co. and Emanouil Brothers are donating loam. Trees with holiday lights would be the icing on the cake.
