Bruce Freeman Rail Trail Amenities Dedication Ceremony

The ceremony will take place next to the rail trail, at Cushing Place in Chelmsford Center. Three recently completed trail amenities will be dedicated: of Chelmsford Boy Scout Troop 77; at the Nashoba Valley Technical High School in Westford; and a Train Station Master sculpture created by "The Machine" Jesse Green.

Parking for the ceremony is available at Cushing Place, behind and at the nearby municipal parking lot, behind at 5 Billerica Road. Light refreshments will be served. The event will be held rain or shine.

Ryan Carr's Eagle Scout project includes a bicycle fix-it stand, a bench, and four bicycle racks. The bicycle fix-it stand has a bicycle pump with a pressure gauge, arms from which to suspend a bike during repairs, and a set of repair tools. All of the items have been used since they were installed next to the rail trail at Cushing Place.

The kiosk was designed and built by students of the Nashoba Valley Technical High School in Westford at the request of the Town of Chelmsford. It was paid for with donations from the Friends of the Bruce Freeman Rail Trail. The assisted the students with the installation next to the rail trail at Cushing Place.

The sculpture was carved during the . It will be installed next to the rail trail at the Littleton Road Shell Station in Chelmsford Center. The sculpture subject, a train station master, and location, near the foundation of the old train station in Chelmsford Center, were selected by a panel of three judges from suggestions submitted by members of the public. The judges were affiliated with the Chelmsford Cultural Council, Chelmsford Center for the Arts, Chelmsford Historical Commission, and local art organizations.
