Q: How did this idea come about?
A: This idea came about through taking my two boys to this park over the past couple of years and noticing that it could use a little fixing up. Also, our church was looking for simple, practical ways to get more involved in the community. We feel it is important to practice what we preach. We preach that God is love and we want to be a church that shows that as well because if we don't show it then our words mean nothing.
Q: What kind of work needs to be done?
A: The main kind of work that needs to be done is cleanup. There is some graffiti that needs to be cleaned off the equipment. Some of the landscaping has been neglected and does not look good now. There is trash that needs to be picked up in and around the playground. There is also some repair work that needs to be done like fixing loose boards, replacing boards, fixing a bench, etc. The playground itself needs a new coat of sealant as well since it has not had one in a while.
Q: Who is helping in this endeavor?

A:The town of Chelmsford is providing new mulch to lay down and also sealant for the playground. We are very thankful for their involvement. Chelsmford Open Space Stewardship is involved as well and they are providing volunteers, wood, tools, and other things that we will need that day. Domino's Pizza is also involved and they will be providing pizza for lunch.
Q: How many volunteers are you looking for?
A: We will take as many volunteers who want to come help out. Chelmsford Open Space is providing a lot of the equipment we need, but if people want to bring some tools, rakes, wheelbarrows, etc., that would be awesome. It's better to have too much than not enough.
This is a chance for the community of Chelmsford to come together and do something for kids and families. As a parent I want a safe and fun environment to take my boys to so they can have a great time playing outdoors. As a pastor, I want the community to know that our church cares about the families in this community and we want to do things like this cleanup to show that.
