Today is National Running Day, and we want to honor all of our local runners and inspire you to hit the pavement, too.

Here's how you can celebrate National Running Day locally.

1. Run. Whether you're fast or slow, just get out today and run. You can run on the street, on the , or on the trails of Chelmsford's open spaces.

2. Sign up for a race. Check out the Restore the Bosh 5k this weekend right here in Chelmsford, or check out other local races at coolrunning.com. If you're feeling in the mood for a challenge, Competitor Group, which offers marathons and half marathons, is also having discounts today.

3. Hit the track. Maybe you're not one for street or trail running, but track is open to the public and offers a quiet environment without cars. Take it at your own pace and remember, 4 laps around the track is one mile.

4. Join a running club. If you're looking for some training partners or just a way to socialize, Greater Lowell Road Runners offers weekly summer track workouts at the Chelmsford High track and Saturday morning runs from their office in Lowell.
