Lions Boys Ice Hockey Defeats Medford, 6-1

The Lions will move on in the playoff tournament and face Wakefield on Wednesday.

The Chelmsford High School Lions boys ice hockey team will move on in the state tournament after putting six pucks in the Medford net Saturday night.

Lions goaltender Derek Noble stayed solid between the pipes to only allow one goal.

In the first period, Drew Dawson was the first to score, followed by Matt Winter. The score was 2-0 at the end of the first priod.

During the second, David DeDonato found the back of the net, but Medford answered on a power play to make it 3-1 by the end of the second.

The Lions secured the win during the third period when Derek Hill put a puck in the net, followed by Tommy Bishop from DeDonato. Dawson also scored his second goal of the game.

The Lions will play Wakefield, who won against Westford in a 3-2 overtime thriller Saturday night, on Wednesday at 5:10 p.m.
