Local Girls Installed in New Leadership Positions

Anastasia S., 16, of Wilmington, MA Becomes Top Officer of Billerica Rainbow Girls

June 13, 2016, Billerica, MA – Billerica Assembly No. 61 (www.billericarainbow.com), a local chapter of the International Order of the Rainbow for Girls, held it’s Open Installation of Officers at the Thomas Talbot Masonic Hall in Billerica, MA on Sunday, June 5th 2016 at 3 pm in the afternoon. Fourteen girls from Billerica, Tynsboro, Wilmington and surrounding areas were installed as officers of the Assembly for the next 6 month term. The girls were so excited to see the assembly room filled with family, friends and guests along with some special dignitaries. There were four Past Grand Worthy Advisors of MA Rainbow in attendance along with the current Massachusetts Grand Worthy Advisor, Rebecca M, the current Grand Drill Leader of MA Rainbow, Ashley E, the current Grand Service of MA Rainbow, Erica B., and the PWA of Billerica Assembly, Kaity G who served on Anastasia’s installing suite.

Anastasia S. of Wilmington, MA was installed as Worthy Advisor, the presiding officer of the Assembly. As Worthy Advisor, Anastasia is responsible for running Assembly meetings and planning all activities, fundraising, and service projects during the term. Anastasia has planned a service theme for her term as Worthy Advisor. She announced that her service projects will be focused on raising money for the Massachusetts Vest-A-Dog with the hopes to raise enough money to provide a K9 officer with a bullet/stab proof vest and possibly some specialized equipment such as a first aid kit for the K9 officer. She is also planning to collect stuffed animals, coloring books, crayons and colored pencils for the children at Shriners Hospital in Springfield, MA where she and the assembly will deliver the items collected. Anastasia is also planning lots of fun activities throughout her term.

Kaity G. 16, of Billerica, MA, the outgoing Worthy Advisor, read her end of term report in which she recounted the fun activities she and the girls had participated in over the previous six months and how her participation as a Rainbow Girl had allowed her to gain confidence and form new friendships. Although she will miss being Worthy Advisor, she is looking forward to staying active and joining Massachusetts Rainbow in a Grand Office later this month.

“The Advisory Board and I are very proud of all of the girls,” said Laura, the Mother Advisor of the Assembly. “It is wonderful to see our members grow in Rainbow from shy young girls to responsible young women who have developed the leadership, business, and social skills they will need to succeed in life and in their future careers.” The Mother Advisor presented several girls with attendance awards and other recognition of their accomplishments during the term.

The newly installed Worthy Advisor’s grandmother (also a Past Worthy Advisor and Past Mother Advisor of No. Reading Assembly No. 103), presented her granddaughter with a new gavel to use while presiding over Assembly meetings. A receiving line was formed and a reception was held following the Installation.
