Louisiana Pet Flood Relief Drop-off At Chelmsford Agway

Drop-off your donations at Chelmsford Agway to benefit animals affected by Louisiana flooding. Hurry, the drive ends Monday August 29th

Chelmsford Agway Is A Drop-Off Location For Pet Flood Relief Supplies!

It's been said to be the worst flooding since Hurricane Sandy, yet has had very little media coverage due to the elections. An estimated 75% of the homes in Baton Rouge have been destroyed. Lives have been lost and thousands have been displaced, including pets. Many animal shelters and rescues in the area have been flooded out and destroyed. The other local rescues and shelters have been inundated with not just the normal overpopulation, but overflow from other shelters, stray animals, and displaced family pets that were separated from their families. Many emergency shelters have been put into place and the rescues and shelters in the area are pleaded for help.

A group of STAR volunteers is setting up a donation drive, fundraiser, renting uHauls, and heading down, much like they did last year for the Carolina floods. They are in need of your help once again!

MONETARY DONATIONS:

They have set up a Youcaring to offset the cost of our trip for disaster relief, so that this does not interfere with our normal operating funds which go to urgent dogs in need. This fundraiser will cover the costs of at least two large uHauls ($1500 each, we are working on trying to get a discount), gas for both to get down to LA, tolls, 2 hotel rooms, and flights back for the volunteers. Since we all have full time jobs outside of running STAR, we have limited time to devote and the two days we have will be better spent with boots on the ground rather than driving home. Any and all funds in excess of the costs will go directly to the rescues and shelters in most need in LA.
