Lowell Company to Close, Layoff 300
The company is moving operations to other facilities.

A Lowell company has announced it will be shutting its doors within the year, including laying off approximately 300 employees.
The Lowell Sun is reporting approximately 300 workers were told yesterday about the layoffs at Cobham Electronics Systems, an engineering and manufacturing facility in Lowell across the Merrimack River from Chelmsford.
The company, according to the report, is moving operations to other facilities, and is slated to close by November of next year. While it’s not known which facilities will be taking on operations, the Sun is reporting that a company official says the nearest similar location is in Exeter, NH and may absorb some of the workers losing their positions in the Lowell plant.
