Lowell Heroin Raid: Children Found, Police Say

Kevin Davidson, of Lowell, was arrested at his Smith Street apartment and police said two children were found with heroin around.

LOWELL, MA — A Lowell heroin trafficker was arrested Monday and two children were found in his apartment he used for his "significant" operation, police said. Kevin Davidson, 31, was charged with a host of crimes. The state Department of Children & Families was notified about the discovery of the children and officials have opened an investigation, police said. One child is 2 years old; the other is 5, police said.

Davidson was arrested Monday night during a police raid at Davidson's Smith Street apartment.

"Located within the apartment were 3 'fingers' of suspected (heroin) weighing over 33 grams, a 'finger' press, $3,345 in cash, a single bag of suspected cocaine along with records and other paraphernalia indicating a significant heroin distribution operation," Lowell police said in a statement.

Davidson was charged with heroin trafficking, trafficking heroin in a school zone and unlawful possession of cocaine. Police said he also had a warrant dating back to 2012.
