State Trooper Struck During Rt. 3 Traffic Stop
The trooper was hit by a passing vehicle while outside his car.

CHELMSFORD, MA – A Massachusetts State Police trooper was hit by a car during a traffic stop on Rt. 3, police said. The trooper had stopped a car on the southbound side of the highway near I-495 and was outside his cruiser when he was hit.
The collision happened in Billerica at the Chelmsford town line. The car that hit him stopped at the scene.
The trooper, a 33-year veteran of the state police was "conscious and alert" when he was taken to Lahey Hospital with serious injuries, according to police. He was in stable condition Thursday afternoon.

The collision is under investigation.
