More about Words and Rhymes.

Summer is in full swing now and like many parents you may have already heard the oft repeated phrase, "I'm bored!" I hope my offerings on this blog will keep them busy for a little while each week.

I will often present two poems for each topic. The first poem is geared toward your early learners in grades Pre K -1. The second poem is written for children in grades 2-5.

The arts and crafts activity offers your child a way to personalize the poem to make it easier to learn and remember. I suggest that you copy and paste each poem onto your a word processing page. Feel free to change the font, size and color. Print and attach to the completed activity. You could have your child draw a picture or print a picture from your collection; make a printed copy of the poem, glue both onto construction paper or card stock to make a poster to hang in his/her room. Encourage your child to read the poems with you often and hopefully by summer's end you and your children will have a collection of poems to enjoy.
