News and Notes in Chelmsford Local Government: Aug. 6

Hello Chelmsford! It's August, and here's a quick recap on what's been going on in local government and politics.

Selectmen

Last Monday, the Board of Selectmen approved six motions during their meeting

• Approving the Town Manager's bid for Telescoping Gym seating at to C.B. Seating of Somersworth, NH
• Approving the Town Manager's big awarding zoning consulting to Howard Stein Hudson of Boston
• Approving a one day alcohol license for St. Vartanantz for yesterday, Oct. 3 and 6, and Nov. 3 and 9.
• Appointing Dave Curran to the Military Community Covenant Task Force
• Accepting the proposed Flag Protocol Policy
• Accepting implementation of a four-way stop at Mansur and Newfield Streets.

The board also delayed action on a name change request for the and heard from Town Manager Paul Cohen on the passage through the legislature of a home rul petition for Sunny Meadow Farm, a schedule for Fall Town Meeting and an update on traffic signal timing along Chelmsford Street.

In the State Senate Race

There will be a candidates' night down at the Harvey Wheeler Community Center in West Concord on Wednesday, Aug. 15 at 7:30 p.m. for supporters and undecided voters.

The Harvey Wheeler Community Center is located at 1276 Main St. in West Concord, and the event is free.

The candidates will also be participating in a debate on Carmen Christiano's Politically Incorrect later this month.

This Week

The School Committee and Conservation Commission meet on Tuesday night at 7, the Planning Board and Library Trustees meet at 7 on Wednesday night and the Oak Hill Study Committee will convene on Thursday night at 7.
