Nomination Papers for Town Elections, Town Meeting Available Jan. 5.

Papers will be available for several elected town positions, as well as for Town Meeting members.

Nomination papers for town-wide offices and Town Meeting representative members will be available Monday, Jan. 5, 2015 at the Office of the Town Clerk, according to Chelmsford Town Clerk, Onorina Maloney

“Town-wide candidates (incumbents and challengers) must obtain a minimum of 50 signatures from registered voters. Non-incumbent Town Meeting Representative Candidates must obtain 25 signatures from the precinct they wish to represent. I recommend that all candidates obtain additional signatures.” Maloney said.

The last day to obtain nomination papers is Thursday, Feb. 12 at 5 p.m. (MGL c. 53 s. 9A). Nomination papers must be returned to the Board of Registrars at the Town Clerk’s Office on Tuesday, Feb. 17 at 5 p.m. The Annual Town Election will be held on Tuesday, April 7.

Town Wide Offices

  • TWO Board of Selectmen members for THREE years
  • ONE School Committee Members for THREE years
  • THREE Planning Board Members for THREE years
  • ONE Planning Board Associate Member for TWO years
  • ONE Board Health Member for THREE years
  • TWO Trustees of Public Library Members for THREE years
  • ONE Cemetery Commission Member for THREE years
  • ONE Housing Authority Member for FIVE years

Town Meeting members:

  • PRECINCT 1 - SIX for three years
  • PRECINCT 2 - SIX for three years; TWO for TWO years and TWO for ONE year PRECINCT 3 - SIX for three years
  • PRECINCT 4 - SIX for three years; ONE for TWO year
  • PRECINCT 5 - SIX for three years
  • PRECINCT 6 - SIX for three years; ONE for ONE year; ONE for TWO years
  • PRECINCT 7 - SIX for three years
  • PRECINCT 8 - SIX for three years
  • PRECINCT 9 - SIX for three years

“In addition to nomination papers, the office has information from the Office of Campaign and Political Finance (OCPF) regarding campaign finance regulations and practices. Town-wide candidates must remember that before incurring any expenses or receiving any funds they must file a Statement of Organization” Maloney stated.
