While most of the Chelmsford Pop Warner teams visited Sudbury, the Chelmsford Cougar B team travelled to Newton to pick up their 3rd consecutive win 30 – 0 over the Newton Mustangs. After a slow start in the first quarter, an interception by Joey Lefebvre ignited the Cougars who converted that turnover into 8 points by marching 38 yards in 6 plays including a 19 yard broken play TD run by Lefebvre who received an outstanding block by Mitch Costa. Two points were added by Will Zouzas making it 8 – 0.
After another defensive stop, the Cougars struck again. On a 2 down and 11 from their own 37 yard line, QB Jay LoPresti hit Kyle Johnson on a quick slant. Johnson raced 50 yards before being caught at the Newton 13 yard line. After a pass interference penalty on the next play, Zack Dalton ran in from the Newton 2 yard line for his first TD of the day. After another 2 point kick by Zouzas, Chelmsford’s lead at the half was extended to 16 – 0.
