Rape Aggression Defense Class Being Offered by Local Police Departments

The Chelmsford Police Department is working with other local departments to offer the class to women free of charge.

A three-day Rape Aggression Defense (R.A.D.) class is open to women ages 16 and up from Jan. 5-7.

According to a statement, the Chelmsford Police Department is combining resources with several other law enforcement agencies to provide the class, described as a basic women’s self-defense class, to women. The course consists of three session that include classroom/lecture elements as well as “a dynamic physical element where participants learn the skills needed to survive an attack.”

College-age women in particular are encouraged to take part.

The course will take place at Billerica Memorial High School in the cafeteria (365 Boston Road Billerica) from 6-9 p.m. Jan. 5, 6 and 7.
