Regular Season Winding Down for Lion Teams

Several teams are in action in upcoming days as just two weeks remain in the regular season.

Chelmsford's winter sports teams are coming down the stretch with multiple teams in playoff contention with two weeks to go in the regular season.

Thanks to this weekend's blizzard, the boys hockey team is in action with a home tilt on Monday night. The Lions were slated to take on Central Catholic on Saturday, but due to the several feet of snow that fell in the area, the game will be played at Chelmsford Forum at 6 p.m. Monday as the only CHS action on the day.

On Tuesday, the ski team kicks off the day's action at 3:45 p.m. Chelmsford takes on Groton-Dunstable, Acton-Boxborough Regional, Bromfield, Lowell, Newton South and Westford Academy Nashoba Valley Ski Area in a slalom race.

Also on the day, the boys and girls basketball teams are in action. The boys take on Haverhill in a home tilt while the Lady Lions travel against the same foe on the road. Both games get underway at 7 p.m.

It's an important game for the boys team, which needs two victories to clinch a spot in the playoffs.

Wednesday is an off day for Chelmsford teams. The girls hockey team was scheduled for a road contest against Boston Latin, but the game was rescheduled.

Things pick back up again on Thursday, with a Valentine's Day girls basketball contest. The Lady Lions travel to face Medford on the day, with a 7 p.m. tip off.

On Friday, the wrestling team begins the state tournament while the basketball teams are both in action. The girls team hosts Lawrence at 7 p.m. while the boys are in Billerica at the same time.

The week doesn't end for the Lions on Friday though. On Saturday, the track teams are scheduled for the state meet, the wrestling continues its own state action and both hockey teams play home tilts. The Lady Lions skaters play Westford at 4:30 p.m. while the boys play at 7 p.m. against Billerica.

Finally, on Sunday the swimming team is scheduled for its own state competition at Harvard University.
