Local Turkey Trots to Celebrate Thanksgiving

Looking for something to do Thanksgiving morning, or just looking for a way to indulge in your favorite pie without feeling as guilty? Here are some local races you can walk or run.

Thursday

Lowell: 10th Annual Thanks4giving Road Race. All runners and walkers get a free pie to take home. Proceeds benefit Alternative House.

North Reading: 3rd Annual North Reading 5k Turkey Trot. All proceeds will benefit the North Reading sports program. Awards will be given to top 3 winners in each age group. Medals for all participants 14 years and younger.

Andover: Feaster Five. This legendary race typically boasts about 10,000 entrants. Proceeds benefit the Merrimack Valley YMCA and Ironstone Farm. Also, at the race expo, you can meet and greet running greats Bill Rodgers, Joan Benoit-Samuelson, and Rick and Dick Hoyt.

Salem: Wild Turkey 5 Mile Road Race. The race is presented by the Park, Recreation & Community Services and the Boys & Girls Club of Salem. Long sleeve Brooks technical shirts will go to the first 1,150 entrants.

Friday

Chelmsford: Friends, family and alumni of the Chelmsford, Billerica and Tyngsboro Cross Country teams are invited to the The race will start at 11 a.m. at the Chelmsford High School sports field near the school entrance. The race is approximately 3.1 miles.

Hamilton: Gabe's Run. This annual day-after-Thanksgiving race benefits the Gabe Pacione Memorial Scholarship. The race includes a 5K trail race and a one-mile fun run. Race day registration opens at 7:30 a.m. The women's 5K begins at 9 a.m. and the men's 5K begins at 9:45 a.m. The one-mile fun run starts at 10:30 a.m.
