School Official Charged with Indecent Assault and Battery on a Child

Superintendent made the announcement Thursday morning and the investigation is ongoing.

Earlier today, Mr. Christopher Holt, a paraprofessional in theChelmsford Public Schools and a site supervisor for Chelmsford Public Schools Community Education, was charged with the crimes of Indecent Assault and Battery on a Child, Superintendent of Schools Dr. Frank A. Tiano announced in a statement released Thursday morning.

On Jan. 7 when allegations first surfaced about potential inappropriate conduct by Holt, the Chelmsford Public Schools placed him on administrative leave. The Chelmsford Police were immediately contacted, as well as, the Department of Children and Families. The police and school administration have been conducting an investigation of this matter.

Since the investigation is ongoing, it would be inappropriate to make any comments about specific facts in this matter, Tiano stated. In addition, due to confidentiality requirements, the Chelmsford Public Schools cannot provide specific information about personnel matters.

Tiano says the Chelmsford Public Schools wants parents, students and members of the community at large to know that it is actively managing this matter and, if any evidence of wrongdoing is established, it will take appropriate action.
