Cop Shoots Suspect Who Runs Over, Drags Chelmsford Officer: DA

A vehicle pursuit ended in Chelmsford, after the suspect allegedly ran over and dragged a Chelmsford police sergeant.

A police chase through multiple towns ended with a Chelmsford police officer being dragged by a suspect's vehicle and an officer-involved shooting Saturday night, the Middlesex District Attorney's office said.

At approximately 8:36 p.m., a Tyngsborough police officer engaged in a chase of a suspect vehicle down Route 3 into Chelmsford, according to the DA's office. The suspect vehicle entered the Sully's parking lot on Graniteville Road, and when a Chelmsford sergeant approached the vehicle, it backed up and dragged the sergeant several yards, the DA's office said.

The Tyngsborough officer then opened fire on the suspect, fearing for the Chelmsford's officer safety, according to the DA's office.
