Taylor Dawson Starts Out on the Right Foot
Taylor Dawson, a senior on the boys soccer team, has a promising season ahead of him.
Taylor Dawson, a senior on the boys soccer team opened the season in full force. The three-year starter is playing forward this year, and in the first five games of the season, he has made three goals and four assists.
“He’s just playing great,” said Mike Parato, the head coach of the team. “[Taylor’s] speed has increased a lot over the course of the past couple years, and his strength over the ball has increased. He’s got great character and great work ethic in practice and in games. “
Dawson, who plays on two club teams in addition to the Chelmsford High varsity team, leads by example. He is one of the more quiet players on the field, but plays a precise game and rarely makes errors, Parato said.

“Taylor is able and willing to play anywhere on the field. He’s good everywhere he plays… He has knowledge and ability to play the game. He is very patient, and a very smart player," he said.
Dawson was the recipient of the Pride Award last year, and dedicates his time to coaching youth soccer during his off season. He is a member of the National Honor Society, and has a full academic schedule, including two AP courses.

Dawson and Parato hope that the team advances far into the tournament this fall.
“I think that this year is going to be one of the most promising for Chelmsford since I’ve been in high school,” said Dawson.
Parato added that he hopes for a home tournament game later in the season. To achieve that goal, the Lions will need to win 75 percent of their games during the regular season. Though a tough feat, the team is currently on track to hit the mark.
Dawson hopes to continue his soccer career in college. Coaches have reached out to the standout player inquiring about his interest in extending his career for another four years.
“I’ve been playing since I was little,” said Dawson. “I’m definitely looking to play in college."
“[I hope] to help him continue the path he’s on as far as soccer goes. He’s had a lot of growth over the course of the last two years, and [I’d like] to help him do that both for this team and to set him up for success playing in college,” Parato said.
