Truck Crashes Into Chelmsford Building

The driver sustained life-threatening injuries in the crash, which trapped him inside his truck.

CHELMSFORD, MA – A pickup truck crashed into a building in Chelmsford Monday evening, police said. Emergency crews responded to 22 Middlesex St. at 5:20 p.m. and found a brown 2002 Toyota Tacoma lodged more than three-quarters into the building, according to police.

The driver, an 83-year-old Lowell man, was trapped inside. Emergency crews freed him, and he was flown by medical helicopter to Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center with life-threatening injuries, police said. He was the only person in the car at the time of the crash.

Investigators believe the truck was traveling on Wright Street when it crossed Middlesex Street and hit the building, which houses a dentist's office and an insurance company.
