Volunteers needed at Ironstone Farm
Work with horses, improve lives of children with special needs. Volunteers needed weekdays at Andover nonprofit near I-93 and 495.

Ironstone Farm in Andover, MA, which utilizes the dynamic power of horseback riding to provide therapeutic benefits to children and adults with special needs, is seeking volunteers Monday through Friday between 9:30 a.m. and 3:30 p.m.
Volunteer shifts are typically 2 hours long, once a week.
Ironstone Farm has heated, indoor facilities, as part of its scenic 19-acre farm, which allows therapy to take place all year long. Without the generous help of about 200 volunteers each week, Ironstone could not provide its unique programs to its clients.

Volunteers can start as young as 13 years old. Committed high school volunteers may apply to become “working students,” which allows for increased time with the horses. Some adult volunteers so enjoy their experience that they have earned presidential recognition for donating over 4,000 hours to the Andover nonprofit.
No prior experience is necessary to volunteer, and new volunteers first complete a Volunteer Workshop to make them familiar with leading and walking beside horses.
