Driver In Serious Crash After Stabbing Woman: Police

Police said a Dracut man stabbed a woman known to him on Sesame Street around midnight Tuesday.

DRACUT, MA – Police have issued a warrant for a Dracut man after he allegedly stabbed a woman in town early Tuesday morning. The man is hospitalized in serious condition after being in a car accident shortly after the stabbing, which left the victim with serious injuries. Police said the victim is known to the suspect.

The warrant for 59-year-old James O'Neil is for charges of assault with intent to murder, assault and battery with a dangerous weapon and domestic assault and battery, according to Middlesex DA Marian Ryan.

Dracut Police responded to a 911 call on Sesame Street shortly after midnight Tuesday. They found a woman in her 50s suffering from life-threatening injuries. She was brought to a Boston hospital.

Police almost immediately after received a call of a serious crash at the intersection of Methuen Street and Parker Road. Police believe the driver, O'Neil, was coming from the Sesame Street home.

O’Neil has not been arrested because of his injuries, and an arraignment has not been scheduled.
