The Concord Band presents its fall concert, entitled "Scenes" after the suite, Scenes from "The Louvre",
written for band by composer Norman Dello Joio. Dello Joio adapted his original score from a television documentary, depicting five classic artworks from the museum's famous collection. In keeping with this theme, Music Director James O'Dell also selected Modest Mussorgsky’s Pictures at an Exhibition. The program includes Of Sailors and Whales by W. Francis McBeth, inspired by Herman Melville's iconic novel, Moby Dick. The program also features Iditarod
by Robert Buckley, evoking the epic adventure of the Alaskan dog sled race, and Ireland: Of Legend and Lore by Robert W. Smith. A multimedia presentation will accompany the music. The concert is free with donations requested of $20. Free refreshments will follow the concert.

Bedford’s New Song Music Series presents Boston-based Grain Thief on Saturday, October 24, 2026, at 7:30 p.m.
The five-piece string band has released critically acclaimed albums and built a national following through its live performances, bringing a distinctive sound to acoustic roots music.

Their latest album, House of the Dog, celebrates perseverance, friendship, and the simple power of acoustic instruments gathered around a microphone. Its original tunes feel warmly familiar—as comfortable as a favorite pair of jeans. In its album review, Bluegrass Today
praised Grain Thief’s “sheer joy and absolute enthusiasm,” highlighting the band’s collaborative spirit and the seamless interplay of its instruments.
Watch Grain Thief perform “54 Miles to Empty”, a track from the album.
Because of planned construction in Bedford Town Hall’s Reed Room, the concert will be held at John Glenn Middle School, where the auditorium offers comfortable, theater-style seating.
Tickets are $25 in advance and $30 during the week of the concert; ticketing fees may apply. Tickets and additional information are available at newsongbedford.org.

In this season of storytelling, let us look back into our past and see what it might have to say to our present. Please join us in-person or online.
