Choral Evensong for All Saints: Trinity Episcopal Church, Nov. 4

Organ Recital at 5 PM, Choral Evensong at 5:30 -- All welcome!

Trinity Episcopal Church, 81 Elm Street in Concord, celebrates the Feast of All Saints with an organ recital and choral evensong on Sunday, November 4 at 5 PM.

Trinity's music director/organist Robert Barney will present a short half-hour recital on the Aeolian-Skinner organ featuring works by Dietrich Buxtehude, Johann Sebastian Bach, George Thalben-Ball, Aaron Copland and others.

Following the recital, Trinity's Parish Choir will sing Choral Evensong featuring psalms, responses, and canticles by late 16th-century masters Thomas Weelkes, Richard Ayleward, Tomás Luis de Victoria, and others. The hymns for congregation and choir to sing are chosen to celebrate all the saints.

The service of Choral Evensong has been referred to as “Jewel of the Anglican Communion.” This experience, created with the formation of the service of Evening Prayer in the Book of Common Prayer, is unique to the Anglican tradition. The body of music that has been written for this special liturgy is immense and spans over 500 years and a myriad number of composers. Anglican and Episcopal parishes around the globe are offering up sung prayer daily, weekly, monthly, or as often as their choirs can learn the musical settings. Some people call it a concert, but it is really a dialogue of prayer between officiant and choir, at the same time it is a conversation begun and continuing between the creator and the created.

All in the greater Concord community are invited to attend at no charge. Trinity Episcopal Church is fully handicap-accessible. For further information on this and other events at Trinity, please call the Parish Office, 978-369-3715, or visit Trinity online at www.trinityconcord.org.
