Community groups team up to offer education on Islam

Breakfast event presents information on understanding the world's second largest religion.

CONCORD, MA – Three Concord and Carlisle community groups have teamed up with a local mosque to offer a program on understanding Islam. On Wednesday, March 7th, Concord resident Nasir Rana and members of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community will present on True Islam: what it is, and how to counter ignorance about the world’s second largest religion.

The True Islam and the Extremists campaign, which has also been presented at the Massachusetts State House, seeks to spread Islam’s message of peace. Extremists like ISIS depend on people’s ignorance of Islam in order for them to grow. The more people know about Islam’s true teachings – and what Muslims truly believe – the less they’ll be susceptible to ISIS’s propaganda. More about the campaign can be found at www.trueislam.com.

The event, which includes breakfast, takes place at 8 am at First Parish in Concord, 20 Lexington Road, with a snow date of March 14. Admission is free but space is limited; registration is online at www.concordcarlisleace.org by March 2, or at 978-318-1432 by March 5.
