
CONCORD, MA – The Concord Festival of Authors Bridge Year is off to a great start this year, and there’s more to come! Join the Concord Festival of Authors and the Concord Free Public Library (CFPL) for Festival events this week from October 16th – October 20th at the CFPL.
On Tuesday, October 16th at 7pm, author and one of Oprah’s “Top 30 Women Writers” Jenna Blum will discuss her new novel The Lost Family. Blum will speak at the Main Library in the Periodical Room.
Moving away from the subject of families, the CFPL is excited to welcome Rev. Dr. Jim Sherblom on Wednesday, October 17th at 7pm to the Main Library. Sherblom will discuss his new book Spiritual Pilgrim: Awakening Journeys of a Twenty-First Century Transcendentalist, which draws from his experiences traveling with people of a variety of faiths, including Sufis, Taoists, and Christians.

Drawing on the same subject of spirituality but with the additional insights provided by science, author Christopher White will share on his new book Other Worlds: Spirituality and the Search for Invisible Dimensions. This event will take place Thursday, October 18th at 7pm at the Main Library.
On Friday, October 19th at 7pm at the Main Library, author Steve Almond will discuss his new book Bad Stories, which uses literature as a lens to explore entertainment, sports, and politics in an effort to make sense of our historical moment. Almond’s short stories have been anthologized widely, including in Best American Short Stories, The Pushcart Prize, and more!

Finally, on Saturday, October 20th at 7pm, the Concord Festival of Authors and the CFPL welcome this year’s recipient of the Ruth Ratner Miller Award for Excellence in American History, Professor Annette Gordon-Reed to the Main Library. Gordon-Reed is a Pulitzer Prize winning professor of history at Harvard Law School and Harvard University. This event is ticketed - $15 for adults and $5 for students – and sponsored by the Friends of the Concord Free Public Library.
