Concord Firefighters Rescue Sick Hiker

A man hiking at Walden Pond State Park Preserve became ill and needed to be rescued along the trail.

CONCORD, MA — A hiker at Walden Pond State Park Preserve on Sunday fell ill and had to be rescued by Concord fire crews. The rescuers worked with Parks rangers and authorities to locate the man.

A reporter for the Patriot Ledger happened to be hiking in the area and witnessed the rescue. In her column, she said the man in his mid 50's was lying on a ledge near the railroad tracks and trail and was conscious when rescuers got to him.

Crews used an all terrain vehicle to drive up to the man and load him onto a stretcher to have him evaluated.
