Concord Library to Host Mindful Read and Be Well Event

Mindfulness Series

Reading heals us! Join Lara Wilson of Be Well Be Here for a literary conversation that explores reading as a mindful wellness practice. The event will take place at the Concord Free Public Library (Main Library, 129 Main Street) on Saturday, April 13th at 3:30 p.m.

How does reading help us untangle struggles in our own lives? How do stories enhance our understanding of human nature, increase empathy, and lead to shifts in perspective? We’ll look at aspects of bibliotherapy, and discuss why reading not only relaxes the ruminating mind, but sparks joyful human connection.

Lara JK Wilson, MA, GCMS - A meditator for over thirty years, Lara’s practices explore how mindfulness and the creative process benefit health. In addition to completing a Master’s Certificate in Mindfulness Studies at Lesley University, Lara is an award-winning author of short stories and a Grub Street instructor and former board member with a master’s degree in literature from Harvard, Lara advocates incorporating mindfulness in all levels of education. She has developed mindfulness curricula for schools in the north and south, led mindful wellness retreats, and designed personal practice with hundreds. After experiencing the power of mindfulness during eighteen months of cancer treatment, Lara established Be Well Be Here, a non-profit collaborative mindful wellness center in Concord, MA.
