Concord Man Charged for Dragging Officer with Vehicle

Police have charged the driver of the vehicle with failure to stop for police and driving to endanger.

CONCORD, MA—A Concord man has been charged after a Wayland police was dragged between five and 15 feet by a vehicle as she worked a road construction detail on Route 30 in Wayland.

William E. Prewitt, 20, was charged with operating to endanger and failure to stop for police. He was released at the scene and will be summonsed to Framingham District Court.

According to police, Sgt. Jennifer Ordway was speaking with a driver through the open passenger-side window of a vehicle when the driver began to move forward. Ordway was dragged a short distance before the driver stopped for a second construction detail officer.

Ordway sustained minor injuries and was treated at the scene by Wayland Fire Department personnel before being transported to Metrowest Medical Center Natick b A.M.R. ambulance.
