Concord Police to Host Bike Safety Rodeo

The Concord Police Department will provide free inspections and safety tips to residents. Oh, and there'll be free ice cream.

CONCORD, MA – The Concord Police Department and ATA Cycle of Concord will hold a bike safety rodeo this Saturday, May 13 to provide free inspections and safety tips to residents. This includes checking the safety of bikes and helmets, information about bicycle laws and tips about how to safely share the road with pedestrians and drivers.

The aim of the event is to establish safety practices for cyclists, drivers and pedestrians to mitigate incidents on the road.

Participants are asked to bring their own bikes and helmets to the rodeo. Free ice cream will be served.

"With the warm weather approaching, more bicyclists will be on the road and we want to ensure that young riders especially know the rules of the road and have a properly fitting helmet," Chief Joseph O’Connor said in a statement. "Thank you to ATA Cycle of Concord and Minuteman High School for working with us on this event."

The rodeo will be held at Alcott Elementary School, 93 Laurel Street, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
