Concord Spring Water Main Flushing to Begin Monday

Check to see when the water in your neighborhood will be flushed.

CONCORD, MA—Concord's spring water main flushing is set to begin Monday, and will continue on through May 4, according to the town's website.

The town has announced that flushing will begin on April 25 and will take place from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday through Wednesday, and again on May 2 until May 4. Flushing is done in the spring and fall because of lower water demands and to avoid cold weather.

Flushing allows for hydrants to be periodically used and identified for maintenance or replacement and provides an opportunity for tests to be done to determine if water flow and pressure are sufficient, according to the town's website.

The process enhances water quality and allows iron and manganese build-ups to work their way out of the systems.
