Concord's Caroline Boylan Dies at 26

She was remembered as "a vibrant, intelligent, witty young woman who touched many hearts along the way."

Caroline “Nina” C. Boylan, age 26 of Concord and Gloucester Massachusetts, passed away on Saturday, August 23, 2014 after a long illness.

She is survived by her parents, Ted and Miranda, and her brothers, Schuyler and Tristan, in addition to her paternal grandparents and many uncles, aunts and cousins.

Growing up summering on Cape Ann, Nina learned to sail at the Eastern Point Yacht Club. She attended the Willard School in Concord for first through fourth grades where she developed a true passion for reading, writing sequels to book series she loved. She attended the Winsor School in Boston where she was captain of the sailing team and graduated in 2006. Before her illness she attended both Bard College and Rollins College where she sailed at a varsity level. Nina loved cooking, skiing, and white water paddling.

When diagnosed with cancer in January of 2011 Nina began a journey, seeking the most innovative treatments, pushing the boundaries of contemporary medicine in America. She received extraordinary care at Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital in Boston, the Fachkrankenhaus in Coswig, Germany and at the Paracelsus Clinic in Lustmuhl, Switzerland.

Her family would like to express their deep appreciation to all who cared for her. She was a vibrant, intelligent, witty young woman who touched many hearts along the way and will be sorely missed.

Arrangements will be private.

In lieu of flowers contributions in honor of Nina can be made to the Fibro Foundation, an organization devoted to finding a cure for Fibrolamellar Hepatocellular Carcinoma www.fibrofoundation.org
