Announcing two new in-person workshops with CYT's Brian Pollock! These workshops are offered to students in grades 8-12. To Register go to https://concordyouththeatre.as...

AUDITION TECHNIQUE
(Grades 8-12; Instructor: Brian Pollock; Saturdays 10/17, 10/24 12:30-3:30pm) Are acting auditions a bit scary for you? Or are you thinking about auditioning for shows or programs that require that intimidating word “monologue”? In this workshop, professional actor and CYT alum Brian Pollock will coach you on a monologue selected just for you, and pull back the curtain of mystery and intimidation that surrounds auditioning. Students will leave with a better understanding of how to walk into acting auditions feeling prepared and confident. Limit: 12 Students. Tuition: $180

CLOWNIN’ AROUND
(Grades 8-12; Instructor: Brian Pollock; Mondays 10/19, 10/26, 11/2, 11/9, 11/16 4:00-6:00pm)
Jump into your body, and open up like a little flower! This is not the Clown you typically think of at a birthday party or in the circus, and certainly not the one in horror films. No makeup, no costumes, not even a red nose. CLOWNING is based in the pursuit of the clown in all of us: your inner child who played with abandon and wasn't yet socialized; the version of you that was never told "NO." There's no politeness, no worrying, no apologizing. Clowning will help you fight your fears and identify and combat your inhibitions onstage; you'll work toward that messy, scary, FUN place of absolute generosity and vulnerability. Once we've discovered our inner clown, we can begin to play and make a mess together in the sandbox - working in pairs, groups, and solo to create original Clown numbers and mini-shows. Students of Clowning say over and over again how they find it to be the most important component of their acting training. Come see for yourself what all the fuss is about! Limit: 16 Students. Tuition: $300

Brian Pollock is a former CYT kid and a graduate of New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts, where he studied acting, directing and playwriting. He has also studied in Florence, Italy, where he learned the crafts of Clown and Masked Renaissance theater. When he is not teaching at CYT, he lives most of the year in NYC where he works as an actor-director-playwright, and teaches with the non-profit, Zara Aina, which uses theater education as empowerment for at-risk youth.
