Dabbling in Fun

New store indulges hobbies.

The owners of a new West Concord hobby shop, Dabblers LLC, got approval for a common victuallers license this week. That means the Commonwealth Avenue shop can serve food.

Randy Hartnett and his business partner, Sally Myers, applied for the license to offer coffee, bagels and muffins for breakfast; soups, salads, and sandwiches for lunch. Dabblers LLC is in the old Chrysler Jeep dealership at 119 Commonwealth Avenue.

Hartnett has completely redone the former auto dealership into a spacious and bright space that offers merchandise to satisfy a broad range of hobbies, from knitting to stained glass windows and most everything in between.

He said Dabblers has at least 35 different hobby supplies from visual arts, to science and nature, to woodworking and handcrafts such as soap and candle-making.

Hartnett said the shop has something for every age from about 3 and up.

Dabblers will be able to seat about 12 people in the cafe portion. Hartnett said it is the "one and only" hobby shop, not part of a chain.

Hours are 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. on weekdays; 9 to 8 p.m. on Thursdays; noon to 5 p.m. on Sundays. He was granted the license.
