Debra's Natural Gourmet in Concord Named Best in Country

Debra’s Natural Gourmet has been named the best natural grocery store in the country.

WholeFoods Magazine chose Debra’s as its “2015 Retailer of the Year.”

“(Owner Debra Stark) managed to turn this store into a neighborhood staple by putting an emphasis on customer service and a unique product selection that mixes locally sourced products with exotic items,” WholeFoods wrote. “Perhaps most important, though, is the creation of a warm atmosphere where customers not only shop, but also learn about the foods and natural supplements their bodies and lifestyles may need.”

Debra’s first opened in 1989. The family-owned store has about 50 employees.

“Our mission is still what it’s been since day one,” Stark told WholeFoods. “We want to be that place where everybody knows your name.”
