Dementia: Mapping the Journey

Dementia: Mapping the Journey a program crafted to educate and provide support for local residents, will be presented by on Friday, May 9th, at 7:00pm, at First Parish Church, in Concord, MA. Four speakers will discuss caring for Alzheimer’s patients from various perspectives, take questions and lead audience discussion.

Will Reiter, Vice President of Education and Community Engagement of the MA/NH chapter of the Alzheimer's Association, will discuss understanding dementia and responding to caregiving challenges.

Janet Simpson Benvenuti is the Founder of Circle of Life Partners, a resource to help families successfully support aging loved ones and maintain their financial health. Janet tells her story in her book, “Don’t Give Up on Me”. All those who attend will receive a copy of Janet’s book.

Jim Reynolds, CEO of Caring Companion Home Care, will explain how home care enables seniors to remain in familiar surroundings, providing respite for their family caregivers. Specialists in dementia care, CCHC assists clients in daily tasks and engages them in activities they love.

Margaret Hoag, Elder Law Attorney at Eckel, Morgan & O’Connor, will cover the legal aspects of aging. She will speak about competence issues, how to help seniors maintain their rights to make health decisions, and when and how families should step in.

Brochures from these agencies, as well as information on dementia will be available. Refreshments will be generously donated by Concord Health Care Center
