Fenn School Kicks Off Fall Season

The following was provided by the Fenn School.

The Fenn School opened its football season last Thursday, hosting rival Fay at Reynolds Field.

After spotting Fay an 8-0 advantage, Fenn clawed back with tough running by Odom Sam of Lowell and Luke Newman of Concord. A crucial third down reception by tight end John Hart of Westford of set up the ensuing Fenn touchdown, with quarterback Mike Demsher, also of Westford, finding Zack Lisman of Sudbury from 20 yards out.  From there, both teams played hard-nosed defense, but Fenn surrendering three more touchdowns, falling to Fay, 28-6. Fenn hosts Worcester Academy on Thursday.

In varsity soccer, Fenn edged Hillside School, 4-3, on Thursday. Under rainy skis in Beverly on Friday, Fenn picked up another win, blanking Shore Country Day, 2-0. Thatcher Adams of Concord and Josh Cabral of Tewksbury scored for Fenn, while Leo Kafka of Concord and Mitchell Groves of Acton were stellar in goal.

Fenn's JV soccer team on Friday surged past Shore's JV team. EJ Fitzsimmons of Maynard and Chewy Bruni from Sudbury each scored in the first half, putting Fenn up 2-0 after the choppy first half. Things settled in the second, with Fenn boys moving the ball patiently and deliberately. Kevin Kelleher of Sudbury scored in the second, tapping in the ball after a handsome sequence of sideline passes between Spencer Pava of Weston and Sammy Hankaoui of Maynard. Concord's Nicholas Schoeller finished off the Fenn scoring, 4-1 the final. Fenn's JV squad is 2-0 on the season.

The Fenn School's Fall sports season kicked off under a clear sky last month, with Fenn's JV soccer team hosting Brookwood School from Manchester (Mass).

After a scoreless opening half, Fenn began to control the play early in the second half, with smooth ball control and subsequent possession. Seventh-graders Kevin Kelleher and Charlie Fitzsimmons, both of Sudbury, quickly began an onslaught in which Fenn scored five straight goals. Chewy Bruni, a compact seventh-grader from Sudbury, capitalized twice on 20-yard shots, while eighth-grader Tommy McKeown of Concord added another goal in the 5-0 win.

Alex Hill of Concord put on a show with some athletic saves in recording the shutout. 

Meanwhile, Fenn's squad soccer team registered a convincing 3-0 win on Friday at Hillside, with Ted McClusky (Sudbury) and Shep Greene (Sudbury) scoring.
