Guitar Exhibit, Symposium, and Bill Frisell Concert Sure to Appeal to Music Fans this Weekend

Guitar Fans, Luthiers, and Woodworkers Invited to The Umbrella for a Steve Klein Guitar Exhibit, Symposium, and Bill Frisell Concert

This weekend presents an exciting series of events for guitar fans, those passionate about instruments as art, and the curious wood workers who want to know more about how these beautiful creations are made!

An exhibit, symposium, and concert combination on Sunday October 22nd wraps up a month long focus on the 50th Anniversary of Master Luthier Steve Klein at the Umbrella Community Arts Center, curated by Concord resident Wilson Schunemann of the Klein Community. The exhibit in the main gallery features 20 rare guitars, headless electrics, harp guitars (including one with 32 strings!), and bass guitars – plus tools and molds from Steve Klein’s workshop.

The half day symposium on October 22nd on Contemporary Traditions in Craftsmanship will take place on Sunday October 22nd, starting at 1pm, with talks by luthiers Steve Klein, Steven Kauffman, Peggy White and Ned Steinberger, as well as by Darcy Kuronen, Curator of Musical Instruments at the Museum of Fine Arts (who is speaking on 'Instruments as Collectable Art') and talks by members of the North Bennet Street School. Talks are complemented by live performances on the instruments shown in the exhibit.
