Hear members of the Handel and Haydn Society Chorus perform a program of early American a cappella songs in connection with The Shot Heard Round the World: April 19, 1775. A professional chorus and period instrument orchestra, the Handel and Haydn Society is an internationally recognized leader in the field of Historically Informed Performance, a revelatory style that uses the instruments and techniques of the time in which the music was composed. Founded in 1815, the Society is America’s oldest continuously performing arts organization and will begin the celebration of its Bicentennial this fall.
