Memorable Recital Moments at Concord Conservatory of Music
Each year the Concord Conservatory of Music presents more than twenty recitals, allowing students of all ages and skill levels to perform in front of a live audience. This year was no exception. Parents, grandparents, faculty, and friends came to listen and thoroughly enjoyed the May recitals. Our students had practiced diligently throughout the year and made music a priority. Performing a variety of songs from great classical pieces to beloved movie soundtracks, they showcased their musical abilities and accomplishments. Playing in the recitals helped students develop their performance skills and gain confidence.
Cellists, pianists, singers, violinists, and other student performers treated our audience to great music. Many students performed as a solo act while others played in ensembles and rock groups. Two ongoing CCM rock bands, Anger Management and Anarchy in a Jar, brought down the house with their renditions of Nirvana, The Rolling Stones, Foreigner, and Beatles songs.

MAP Achievers, More than Ever!
MAP, CCM’s Music Achievement Program, is a private lesson enrichment program created to give our students access to a broader music education. This year, the Music Achievement Program numbers speak volumes. During the 2018 – 2019 school year, more than fifty students signed up for MAP. Thirty students completed their Activity Checklist and were awarded MAP certificates.

And then, some went even further. Ten students put in some extra special effort—attending one or more bonus workshops, participating in an ensemble, and completing practice challenges, to receive their GOLD MAP medal. And, there’s Jason Gee, who went all out to receive the very first ever MAP Platinum Medal. After a year-long-effort and great performances at the recitals, MAP students celebrated together on a job well done. Congratulations to all our MAP Achievers!
Not only do CCM students learn to perform their pieces well, they also learn the importance of performance etiquette—to introduce themselves, finish with a proper bow, and be a respectful audience member. An ice cream social followed each May recital where students had time to enjoy a sundae and socialize with their fellow musicians. An excellent reward for a job well done.
