Middlesex Community College makes getting an education easy and affordable. With lower tuition rates than four-year colleges and the availability of federal grant money, scholarship opportunities and financial aid, Middlesex is helping to remove financial barriers for students wanting to attend college.
For students, access to financial support starts by filling out a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA), according to Kimberly Tibbetts, MCC’s Director of Financial Aid.

“Financial aid eliminates many stressors that prevent students from completing their studies,” Tibbetts said. “By filling out a FAFSA, students are opening themselves up to a variety of cost-saving opportunities that allow them to invest in their education and their futures. At a time when an education and financial assistance are needed most, MCC has a plan in place for the Fall 2021 semester to help students reach their goals.”
Middlesex has also continued to distribute funding to students as part of the Federal Higher Education Emergency Relief (HEERF) Grant for Post-Pandemic Recovery from COVID-19, including $400,000 to students studying in the Summer 2021 semester.
All returning and newly enrolled MCC students are eligible to apply for financial assistance, including HEERF Funding. In order to qualify, students must fill out their FAFSA each academic year. The deadline to fill out the FAFSA for MCC’s Fall 2021 semester is Wednesday, September 15, 2021.
Many students are often eligible for more aid than they think. Financial aid awards are based on financial need, enrollment status in an eligible program, and availability of funding. Additional forms of financial aid, including student employment, federal work study programs or scholarship opportunities, may be available for those who qualify. Through MCC’s Financial Aid Office, students can learn more about student-aid programs. Students can also meet with financial aid advisors to get assistance in accessing the programs and assistance for which they are eligible and to set up a payment plan and choose the financial option that works best for them.
In addition to helping students of all ages start and continue their education, these financial aid options also provide a great opportunity for recent high school graduates to save money on tuition from the beginning of their college journey.
For the Fall 2021 semester, Middlesex is offering students a financial wellness incentive to encourage them to complete their FAFSA and make a financial plan. Students who participate will be awarded a $25 credit towards their Fall 2021 tuition bill.
