From Seaside Home, Mubarak Resigns

Former Concordian predicted these events days ago.

There's no fooling Farouk El-Baz. A few days ago in an interview with Patch, the Egyptian-American scientist who used to live in Concord predicted Mubarak would go to Sharm El Sheikh and resign from there.

Now, with news that that has happened, El-Baz is "jubilant."

"It is the end of an era, and not just for Egypt," said El-Baz from Boston on Friday.

"It's about time. He is done. It is the end of his dream. It is the end of the way things are done in Egypt," El-Baz said.

He said the wishes of the people cannot be ignored indefinitely.

"The people's wishes have to be taken into matters," he said. "As strong as he was, you cannot suffocate people forever."

El-Baz predicts that other strong-arm dictators in the region will now fall, as the leader of Tunisia did, and now, Hosni Mubarak.

"Iran, all those places are next," said El-Baz. "No longer will any one person be able to control a country. It's the end of an era all through the Mideast."
