Putnam P. “Put” Flint, Weston, Ma died April 22, 2014 at 95. He was predeceased by his wife, Dorothy Anne (Smith) Flint and his daughter, Kitora Anne (Flint) Bartley and Survived by his son, Leverett Phillips Flint and his wife Linda of Winchester, MA, daughter Margaret Helen Flint and her partner Peter Meyer, of Marblehead, MA, daughter Rebecca Chase (Flint) Friedman and her husband Michael, of Springfield, MA, 10 grandchildren and13 great grandchildren.
Mr. Flint was active at St. Anne’s in-the-Fields Episcopal Church, Lincoln, MA, the Episcopal Diocese of Massachusetts and Governor Dummer Academy, Byfield, MA. He served in the US Army in WWII rising to the rank of 1st Lieutenant.
His travels and accomplishments in WWII are documented in the book Panther Soup. Inventor and entrepreneur, Mr. Flint developed the first automatic batter mixer for controlling the viscosity of liquid batters in the emerging battered and breaded food industry in 1955. Based on the invention, he formed Wilevco Inc. and then purchased the company 1965. Wilevco manufactured and marketed the equipment which quickly became recognized as the standard for the industry. Joined by his son Leverett in 1976 the company has grown to have customers in 29 states and 13 foreign countries. Mr. Flint was happiest when surrounded by family and friends and spent much of his retirement enjoying his grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Family and friends will gather to celebrate Putnam’s life on Sunday, May 18th at 2:00 pm in St. Anne’s-in-the-Fields, 147 Concord Road, Lincoln, MA. Donations in Putnam’s name may be made to the Episcopal Divinity School.
